Become a Member of SWE
To become a member of the national Society of Women Engineers, you can visit the SWE website at www.swe.org. A student member of national SWE is an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in engineering or any science or technology program at a recognized college or university. Annual membership costs $20 and there are many advantages to becoming a member of national SWE. Not only will you be able to attend the annual student conference, but you also have the opportunity to apply to various SWE scholarships. SWE FIU requires no local dues. To join please come to one of our monthly general meetings. Go to swe.fiu.edu and look for the date of our next general meeting under the “Calender” tab.
SWE FIU uses a point system to determine active membership within the society. Members are responsible for making sure their point records are accurate. Points are listed on the SWE website for verification and can be earned in a variety of ways.
To be considered an “active member” of SWE FIU, you must attend at least 2 of the 4 categories:
- 1 Internal event (general meetings, socials, etc.)
- 1 External event (Professional development workshops, company tours, etc.)
- 1 Volunteer event (Outreach events, Engineering Expo, etc.)
- 1 Signature event ( Women in Research/Women in Industry Panel and Dinner)
